An investigation into the influence of various factors on ROH length was conducted using evolutionary simulations and an empirical dataset of over 3000 red deer genotyped across more than 35000 genome-wide autosomal SNPs. To explore how population history affected ROH, we assessed ROH in a focal sample and a contrasting comparison group. We examined the function of recombination, employing both a physical map and a genetic linkage map, to pinpoint regions of homozygosity. Comparing ROH distribution across populations and map types revealed variations, suggesting population history and local recombination rates influence ROH patterns. Using forward genetic simulations with varying population histories, recombination rates, and selection strengths, we further elucidated the implications of our empirical data. These simulations demonstrated that the influence of population history on ROH distribution is greater than that of recombination or selection. Functional splice assays, relying on the pSPL3 exon trapping vector, analyzed all variants. A cross-sectional survey, conducted in late 2021, aimed to ascertain COVID-19 vaccination rates among PEH/PH residents in Ile-de-France and Marseille, France, and to identify the underlying factors influencing these rates. Participants aged above 18 underwent in-person interviews, in their preferred language, at their place of sleep the previous night. The participants were then grouped into three housing categories for analysis: Streets, Accommodated, and Precariously Housed. After computation, standardized vaccination rates were assessed and matched against the vaccination rates observed in France. Multilevel logistic regression models, featuring both multivariable and univariate analysis, were developed to analyze the data.
Of the 3690 participants, a substantial 762% (95% confidence interval [CI] 743-781) received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas 911% of the French population reached this threshold. Vaccine uptake demonstrates stratification across different demographic groups, with the highest adoption rate observed in PH (856%, reference), followed by Accommodated individuals (754%, adjusted odds ratio = 0.79; 95% confidence interval 0.51-1.09 compared to PH) and the lowest rate in Streets (420%, adjusted odds ratio = 0.38; 95% confidence interval 0.25-0.57 compared to PH).
